Since 1993, Women for Women International has helped over 495,000 marginalized women in countries affected by war and conflict. We serve women in 8 countries offering support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.

We bring women together in a safe space to learn life, business, and vocational skills. Once enrolled, each receives a monthly stipend – a vital support that enables her to participate.

Women increase their ability to earn an income with new skills that are in-demand. They learn about their legal rights, and they become knowledgeable about health and nutrition. The result: stronger women, stronger families, and stronger communities. This ripple effect is profound.

Internship Description:

The Summer 2019 Human Resources intern will assist the Human Resources team with HR related projects such as onboarding/offboarding, recruitment, performance management, and more. The intern will contribute to specific projects under the supervision of the Senior HR and Support Associate and Senior Global HR Officer. The internship will require 20-25 hours per week commitment with an anticipated start date of May 28th, 2019 and possible End Date: August 16th, 2019; a $195 monthly stipend will be provided.

This is an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students looking to obtain valuable experience in the not-for-profit space, and the inner workings on an international nonprofit grassroots women’s development organization.


The list below indicates the types of Human Resources projects on which the intern might work-

  • Support Human Resources team by prioritizing and coordinating daily tasks;
  • Serve as a project manager for those tasks.
  • Assist HR with data and file management.
  • Assist with revamping of HQ on-boarding.
  • Assist with logistics of performance management.
  • Assist with the Rewards and Recognition Program.
  • Assist with special projects within the HR team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Undergraduate or Graduate student in International Development, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field;
  • Strong research and critical thinking skills;
  • Ability to work interdependently and communicate with people;
  • Experience working in an office environment.
  • Detail oriented self-starter.
  • Desire to learn and be flexible.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
